Solar Thermal Power and the Fight Against Global Warming

Executive Summary

America needs to dramatically ramp up its production of clean, renewable energy to address global warming. Solar thermal power plants – those that harvest the sun’s heat to generate electricity – can provide that energy. On the Rise shows that solar thermal power is already more cost-effective than zero-carbon sources of energy like nuclear power and coal with carbon sequestration and that solar thermal has the potential to provide vast amounts of round-the-clock electricity to help meet America’s energy needs.
